Toots & the Maytals 'Do The Boogaloo' 7"
In the build up to last Saturday's
Record Store Day we received feedback from numerous fans who for
various reasons were unable to journey to a participating store to
purchase the Toots & the Maytals 7", released exclusively for
the day.
The record was not made available through the Trojan Store as we
felt it important to support to those indie stores that regularly
rack our product and provide an essential role in the promotion of
the popular music as a whole.
We are, however, keenly aware of the concerns of those who have
regularly supported Trojan over the years and collect all of the
releases in the 7" range, and for this reason a limited number of
copies have been held back for sale via the trojanrecords.com
store.

Everyone at Trojan we would like to thank both those stores and the regular Trojan buyers for their continued support and hope that this measure provides the fairest solution to a difficult and sensitive situation.

Some people have complained that some of the Record Store Day shops they went to had no copies. I have noticed that at least one RSD store has auctioned several copies of this despite claiming to have no copies. A little dishonest, they didn't even let their own staff blag them!
An e-mail was sent out on April 20th from Universal/Trojan stating that there were copies of the Toots single available to mail order. I happened to be on-line when the e-mail came in and ordered a copy immediately (and was psyched to get my hands on this record!).
However, this morning I received an e-mail from Universal stating that my order had been canceled (and my money refunded). When I checked my account on the Universal website, it stated that the single was sold out! Needless to say, I'm not happy about this turn of events.

Please could you guys from Trojan please update your information
concerning the release of the Maytals single. I t is the 19th April,but
the 7" is still not avaible on your website!!??

No idea, but even if they did I'm not sure that a RSD release would qualify as part of the set (?)
Why don't they just give people the option to subscribe to the singles as a set?
With regard to the comment that the records should be offered to those who’ve previously bought the records online, I have asked the question and the answer is that whilst there is agreement in principle the reality is that it’s not possible as the buyer information is stored by the company that run the store. Apparently they’re not allowed to share buyer information (Due to the 'Data Protection Act' I guess) and do not have the facility to contact those people directly.
Put me down for one please...

Maybe they should have been offered by email to people who bought previous 7"s in this series?
