By the Greyhound found UK chart success with a trio of hits in the early seventies, the group already had a long and rich history behind them, serving their musical apprenticeships on the London club circuit and countless Reggae and Soul discs.
Formed in the mid-sixties, the Earl Dunn, Ardley White, Sonny Binns and Danny Smith intially made their mark as the Rudies, the UK‘s top West Indian combo, and even enjoyed a brief spell in the charts in 1970, backing regular front man, Freddie Notes on a version of ’Montego Bay‘. Notes’ decision to go solo later that year left the way open for Glenroy Oakley to step in and lead the group to international chart success.
